Missionaries Rhonda and Bernie Slingerland begin a new stage in their ministry. They will leave the Mesoamerica Region to serve the global Church of the Nazarene in Kansas, USA, beginning on October 1, 2018.

Bernie will be serving with Jesus Film Harvest Partners (JFHP). The Global Office for JFHP is in Olathe, Kansas, USA.

He will be doing partnership development and helping to facilitate the global outreach for the integrated ministry of Jesus Film in the six world regions of the Church of the Nazarene

Rhonda will be serving as the Regional Finance Coordinator for the U.S.A/Canada Region in the Global Ministry Center in Lenexa, Kansas. She has also agreed to assist in the transition with the finances in the Mesoamerica Region for a few months as needed.

They have served 23 years as missionaries in the Church of the Nazarene, which has included: language school in Costa Rica, 1996-97: Venezuela in the SAM Region 1997-2000;  the MAC South Field while living in Costa Rica 2001-2; MAC Regional Office in Guatemala 2002-2009; MAC Regional Office in Costa Rica 2009-11; and in Panama City, Panama serving in the Mesoamerica Regional Office 2011-18. Bernie has been the Regional Evangelism Coordinator. During his years in evangelism he has facilitated: evangelistic campaigns; church planting; organizing churches and districts; and raising-up leaders. Rhonda has been the Regional Finance Coordinator first for the MAC Region, then for the Mesoamerica Region. They have two daughters. Hannah graduated from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University and recently married in June 2018. Abby is still attending MVNU and will be a junior this coming year.

They have a deep love for the people in the Mesoamerica Region, so they will make every effort to return for visits and ministry opportunities in the future.
