Encuentro has arrived in Costa Rica. They expect some 500 people from the USA and Canada to arrive and serve along with 16 churches in the Costa Rica North and Central Districts.

North District

Fanuel F. Flores, the project coordinator in the North District, shared enthusiastically that on June 27, Encuentro began activities in the North! He shared, “It has been a great time with the group that accompanied us from the USA Florida District. Forty-six people joined the local church in Poas and they have worked on painting projects, children’s evangelism in schools and a sports camp. They have participated with us in our local prayer services. It was a time of much blessing in which we took the opportunity to continue in prayer for the community of Poas and Costa Rica.”

The time of service for this group extends to Saturday, June 30, when they will work on the church building of the Poas Church and in the schools in Imas, Cabuyal and Chilamate. The second and third groups, which will arrive from California and Alabama, USA, will work with the Barrio San Jose Church of the Nazarene and the community of Cabuyal July 4-7.

Central District

In the Central District, even though the projects will begin Monday, July 2, the church has done significant preparation led by the national coordinator of the event, Gabriela Bustos. They have held logistical meetings with the administrative team, workers, translators, pastors, etc.   Another group has also prepared to minister through music during the united services which will occur on July 6 and July 13 at the Nazarene Seminary of the Americas (SENDAS). Rev. Jerry Porter will share the Word of God in both services.

Gabriela Bustos shared, “We have united under the same goal, prayer, preparation and execution of projects . . . The churches have prepared their projects of sports evangelism, concerts, and community activities where the only goal is to be the hands and feet of Christ, to reach the hearts of those who need his love. We feel very blessed to have this beautiful event in our country . . . so that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be magnified . . . “
