The Church of the Nazarene Trinidad and Tobago District joyously celebrated the life that was of the Rev. Hugh Mc Kenzie who had the distinction of being the first National District Superintendent (DS). Rev. Mc Kenzie died peacefully on Wednesday, 15th October, 2014.

​Rev. Mc Kenzie accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord in 1930.  In 1955 he entered Nazarene Training College (NTC), now Caribbean Nazarene College.  Following his graduation in 1958, he was appointed Pastor of the Dibe Church of the Nazarene.  In 1959 he was called to be the Pastor of the St. James Church of the Nazarene where he served until his election as the First National District Superintendent in 1971.  He served in this position for four (4) years.  During this period, Rev. Mc Kenzie also served as Chairman of NTC (CNC) Board of Trustees, District Evangelist, Youth camp Director, and Pastoral Counselor.

Rev. Mc Kenzie, known affectionately to all as Bro. Mac, was eulogized as a father, brother, friend, and confidante.  In his funeral sermon, the Rev. Tyrone Goddard saluted him as a Hero of the faith.  He told the congregation that a General had died, but our Commander in Chief still lives!

Rev. Hugh Mc Kenzie leaves to mourn his wife, Deaconness Rev. Una Mc Kenzie, his daughters Sharalyn Wendy and Rhonda, and other relatives and friends.
