On April 19, the Living Water Church of the Nazarene in Antigua continued a 15-year tradition to serve breakfast on Good Friday at the Finnes Institute, a government-run home for the elderly and needy.
A team of 51 people from the church of all ages worked together to offer breakfast to 69 residents and 20 staff workers. They also sang songs, and showed love and care to the seniors by talking, encouraging, , feeding, combing hair and washing up the breakfast dishes. They had a chance to pray with several people.
Pastor Christopher Weekes said it was his belief that God will use outreaches of this type to call more people to full time missions. He also noted the warm reception from the staff and residents.
“It was a personal joy to observe and see believers of all ages demonstrating God’s love in a real and practical way,” Pastor Weekes said. “We believe compassion is a lifestyle. So our Good Friday services are geared towards going, giving and more so being, allowing every believer the opportunity to be like Christ, sharing and showing His love to people of the communities around them.
