Guatemala Volcano of Fire Update

A team of leaders from the North Central Area and Guatemala Central District visited two shelters in the community of Escuintla on June 7 to bring happiness and hope to the people there, but especially the children.

They visited the shelter in the Federal School where there are 1,096 people staying, including 90 children. There the team, with the help of another NGO (Non-Governmental Organization), shared with the children a time of prayer, songs, Scripture, clown presentation, games, snacks and piñatas. They also used evangelism bracelets to share the plan of salvation. Sixty percent of those present received Christ as their Lord and Savior.

In the second shelter the team visited, located in the Abner Casa Sola Gymnasium, the team was unable to hold the planned activities or to see the situation of those in the shelter because those in charge of the shelter prohibited them.

The Area SDMI Coordinator Charito Xuc said, “To serve the Lord in the middle of boys and girls is the best thing we could do as Christians. It is always a true blessing and an opportunity to work with receptive hearts. It is never a loss. It is always gain.”
