The Belmopan Church of the Nazarene in Belize City, Belize, launched Hedges, a non-profit rehabilitation facility, in February 2019.  It is a residential program for young men who have decided to make a positive change in their lives and who are in need of spiritual, moral or mental support.

Hedges currently has 9 men in residence between the ages of 19 and 39.  Anthony Nicholson, Hedges administrator, says he is encouraged by their willingness “to participate in program activities, receive help working through their issues and learning more about God’s purpose for their lives.”

The program offers the Celebrate Recovery Step program, addiction education, Bible study, discipleship, and different work activities.  The residents are required to regularly attend church services. They are also expected to help with planting and raising food for the facility, learning technical skills and participating in the labor force.

The directors of the program are focused on helping their residents “return to their community equipped to live a normal life.”
