The Costa Rica Church of the Nazarene held its first National Ministry Congress, April 5-7, in which district superintendents, pastors, and both district and local leaders in NYI, NMI, SSDMI and NCM all met together. The San Pedro de Poás Church of the Nazarene, part of the Costa Rica North District, hosted the event in their facilities.

Among the themes addressed in each ministry, some of the highlights were:

NYI – certification in Youth Bible Quizzing

SDMI – family care, the golden age and discipleship

NCM – prevention and first aid, psychological attention during disasters and creating projects

NMI – the 7 areas of impact and the monthly emphases

District Superintendents Rev. Johnny Calvo (North) and Rev. Sirlene Bustos (Central) were responsible for the messages during the devotional times.  “Thank the Lord for using our brother and sister to share inspiring, encouraging and challenging messages for the participants,” said Rev. Jorge Baños, Costa Rica National Ministry Coordinator.

He added that each workshop was accompanied by great lessons and challenges for their contexts, and that all the participants were edified by the Word and the messages of the workshops.

Rev. Baños ended by noting, “I could not close without giving all the glory and honor to God for this excellent activity, expecting in Him that this will be the first of many in this beautiful land of Costa Rica.”
