The Church of the Nazarene Caribbean Field received its first certification for Youth Bible Quizzing July 24-25 in Trinidad and Tobago. Thirty-six youth leaders learned how to be Youth Bible Quizzing judges, trainers and participants.

Jennifer St. Romain, English Caribbean Youth Bible Quizzing coordinator, coordinated the event with help from Clovis St. Romain, Alfredo Perez and Dr. Milton Gay, Mesoamerica Region Nazarene Youth International Coordinator.

Field Strategy Coordinator Rev. Alphonso Porter attended the training and took time to share about his growth and development as a Bible quizzer with the participants. He encouraged them to involve others in this important method of discipleship. To close the event, the group committed to train others in their districts and to strengthen Bible quizzing.

During the days of CARYCAC (Caribbean Youth Camp and Conference), which was held following the certification event, district quizzing teams competed, and the winner was the team from Antigua and Barbuda. “There were exciting times where the quizzers gave all they had in the competitions,” said Odily Diaz, North Central Area NYI Coordinator. She added, “We dream that more districts will embrace this resource and develop teens and youth through the sacred scriptures. We want to thank global NYI for their financial support of the certification event, and the leaders of the Caribbean field and all those who attended for their passion and desire to serve with excellence.”
