Cross-Cultural Orientation for Kids, CCOK, is becoming a very useful tool and of great blessing in Mexico, the project started in the south in 2011, extended to the north where it has taken more strength and is raising a generation of young missionaries and servants of the Lord. Children learn about missions through special and very fun times, singing, listening to stories and learning about the different kinds of missionaries. They are given a “passport” with which they can board a “boat” and travel to different destinations. They cross the “Time Tunnel” where they meet the missionaries of the past, present and future.

During June 26 and 27, 2015, in Saltillo, Mexico (Northeast District), the 4th CCOK was held, with the participation of 28 children from the 3 churches of the city, who attended with their pastors.

One of the most special events was the missionary history told before bed, where the ship’s captains, who served as a missionary in the Huasteca Potosina area, told the children about her missionary call while she was still a child and about her experiences, anecdotes and difficulties, but above all about the blessings and miracles that God did during that time.

124 children have been ministered during the 4 CCOK held in the district. There are still 2 more planned for this year, and a training for this ministry in the Northeast. The CCOK was held with the support of the Global Mission team from the Northwest District who provided the training.

Ana Nava, one of the event coordinators said “… it an always surprised to see how there are little ones that say, ‘I will be a pastor’ or ‘ I will be an urban missionary’… The most amazing is to see the faces and expressions when the children enter the time tunnel and look in the mirror as the future missionaries, it has been a great blessing to serve God in such a beautiful ministry, I have seen the hand of God in my life and how it has strengthened my body, before starting the first CCOK I had surgery for thyroid cancer and was in radioactive treatment, my body had no strength and was about to give up, to work with children you need lots of energy … I spoke to God and said that if he wanted me to serve him there to give me physical and spiritual strength and He did … seeing how children love him and follow him, it captivates us …

The “captains” who initiated and carried out the event are: Eunice Zaragoza, wh is now a missionary in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, with the Genesis Project, Emma Montelongo, Sugey Barron, Vicky Ramirez, Israel Alvarez and Ana Nava.
