“The harvest is great, but the workers are few.  So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matthew 9: 37-38 (NLT)

This has been the constant prayer of many regarding the Central District, not because there are no workers, but because literally the harvest is extremely large, if we consider that in our district there is a city and metropolitan areas of over 20 million people, wherever you look you can see fields in great need of God.

God has been answering this prayer in our District; once again, we sensed His answer on August 16th and 17th 2014, when the first Maximum Mission (after 7 years) was held in the Central District. God was always present, leading us to Acuexcomac, a community in need of God, through the Shalom Church, who welcomed us with open arms and great willingness. However, during the planning time, the enemy set obstacles, which led us to believe that God was with us planning a great harvest.

On the 16th, while watching the response of the youth who participated, it was God’s confirmation of His desire that every Christian should be involved in His mission of reconciliation. 90% of the attendees had never before participated in a Maximum Mission. There was nervousness about how more than 50 young people would respond in their first experience. The answer: Formidable! The youth were always willing to do whatever was necessary to share the gospel; their fervent desire to witness God’s love in any way possible was obvious. The result of this was two days of hard work, physical fatigue but full of joy and great blessings that were shared during devotional time. Boys and girls who literally left everything behind that weekend became fishers of men. Testimonies of young people that a few days after burying their loved ones were sharing God with people who they don’t even know, others who gave their last vacations savings to invest in God’s work.

In conclusion, what we can summarize from these days for all participants and for me, is that God is creating a movement among young people and other members of our churches, because the vision is to live holding on to God’s hand, experiencing Him every day of our lives, reflecting His glory, and that when others see us, they may want God in their lives, and to do so in a deliberate manner. This is a missionary movement in the Central District, where young people want to participate in the missionary work of God, and it challenges us to reach more than 20 million people and the opportunities are arising.

We continue asking the Lord of the harvest to continue to increase the number of workers.
