Field Strategy Coordinator Rev. Leonel de León shared an update this morning on the situation in Nicaragua.

Our sister Rev. Maria Ponce, Nicaragua Central District Superintendent wrote the following message. “Yesterday was Mother’s Day in Nicaragua. In a march in support of mothers, 15 people were killed and more than 80 people were injured. In Masaya, where there are 6 churches (of the Nazarene), there is no longer any business. The last few (that remained open) were looted last night. Masaya is a desolate city. We do not know what will happen with Nicaragua. We are in God’s hands.”

News sources in Nicaragua report between 13 and 17 people died in the Mother’s Day march.

Rev. de Leon made a call to continue in prayer. He wrote, “Much appreciated brothers and sisters, we beg you to continue praying for our brothers in Nicaragua. We are very grateful for your intercession.”
