The Church of the Nazarene North Central Area celebrated its third “Advance” women’s retreat Nov. 16-19. This year’s theme was “I Am Real.” One hundred seventy-two women from El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico and the United States of America attended the event.

The retreat had three general objectives. The first was to help the women discover the profound significance of being a “Daughter of the King.” The second was to help them take their place as coinheritors with Christ and as people commissioned by him. The third was to awaken in them the need to proclaim Christ through their testimony of the transformation that the Holy Spirit has made in their lives.

The leaders ministered through large group sessions and smaller groups. Xiomara Slfaro led the single ladies, Jenny Aldana was with the married ladies, the widowed and divorced women were with Olga Camacho, and the pastor’s wives were with Irma Alfaro. Emily De Leon led the children who attended. Martha Socarras preached the Word of God during the event.

The women enjoyed singing along with Saskia Ramos from Panama, who shared her first album that included the theme song of the event. They also enjoyed a talent night as well as other relaxing activities.

Wendy Ayala said, “Thanks to Pastor Maria Luisa de Leon for her passion and vision for women. In the next year we will be women more committed to God.”
