On June 13 and 14, 2014; in the city of Leon, Guanajuato, the NYI annual leader’s retreat, hosted in the Empress Club of the Mexico West District, was held.

After celebrating Mexico’s victory against Cameroon, the young people began arriving to the venue. Just after 4:00 pm, the event called WALKING TALL was formally launched. The retreat was held under the leadership of Rebecca Arteaga, retreat Director; David Peña, West District NYI President and District Council member. Ice breakers, workshops, conferences and forums were held; all which resulted in a conviction and firmness to “refocus on youth ministry”, and “make firm decisions to serve God.”

The workshops were led by invited leaders of other districts such as Joshua Villatoro, Mexico South Field NYI Coordinator; Jonathan Bernal, and Youth Pastor Esdras Hernández, Northeast District NYI President; and David Peña, West District NYI President.

God appeared in a mighty way.  Now, we have over 95 youth leaders from the West District that are willing to WALK TALL wherever God sends them, with the intention to fuel the NYI and to be an example to their community and church in service and love so that others would want to know the Christ they preach.
