On Friday January 17th a Work and Witness team from NE Indiana arrived in Panama City, Panama. This group of twelve was scheduled to work in the renovation and expansion of the Samaria Church of the Nazarene. An Alabama team started the work in the Samaria Church in 2010, followed by the Mt. Pleasant, Michigan Team in November 2013, and the Indiana First earlier this month. All of these teams made it possible for the Samaria Church to build a Sunday School classroom, an expansion to the sanctuary and a parsonage on the second level of the church building.

All of this work has helped to shape the infrastructure that will allow the Samaria Church to better minister in the San Miguelito district, one of Panama City’s urban neighborhoods. The church will now have a place where they can serve their community and continue the NCM child-feeding program.

“We are very thankful for all the seeds that these four teams have planted in our community. We can’t wait to see all the fruit that the Lord will bring forth in Samaria”, said Katherine Arauz, treasurer of the Samaria Church.

Work and Witness teams make a huge difference in our region. Not only do they help with much needed buildings. They also motivate and invigorate churches. Also, lasting friendships are made through this marvelous ministry, such as was the case with these four teams and the Samaria Church.  We thank Stephen and Anne Sickel, W& W coordinators for Costa Rica and Panama, for all of their hard work.
