The Church of the Nazarene Trinidad and Tobago District held its 62nd District Assembly on March 18, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. at the Government Campus Plaza Auditorium in the nation’s capital city of Port of Spain. The theme of the assembly was “Embrace the Glory”, which was derived from the Bible in Haggai 2:9a, which was chaired by the Mesoamerica English / Dutch Field Strategy Coordinator Dr. R Alphonso Porter who welcomed 178 delegates and 30 official visitors in behalf of Presiding General Superintendent Dr. Jerry D. Porter and Mesoamerica Regional Director Dr. Carlos Saenz.

District Superintendent Dr. Victor George gave his eleventh report to the District Assembly. He reported a net gain of 168 members to bring the district’s membership to 5,167 members. For 2017, he projected an increase in District Membership by at least 12.5% and the use of either the Master’s Plan or the Each One Win One evangelism / discipleship program in all local Nazarene churches.

Rev. Patricia Derry presented the District Ministerial Credential Board Report. Dr. Porter asked each ordained Senior Pastor to give a short report of their stewardship. He also invited unassigned Elders, Deacons and Licensed Ministers to stand to receive the blessing of the Assembly.

District Executive Officer Ayana Chester and District Office Secretary Mereta Wallace were presented with tokens of appreciation. Former District Secretary Rev. Kwame Payne was presented with a commemorative plaque for his service between 2013-2017.

In what has become his custom, Dr. Porter closed the assembly at 4:20 p.m. by asking delegates to observe a minute of silence in recognition of the 13 members who had died in 2016
