Work & Witness in the Dominican Republic was blessed to receive a team from Canton Church of the Nazarene in the east Ohio Nazarene district from February 24 – March 4, 2017. It was their second time to bring a Work & Witness team to the Dominican, and during their stay they continued the work on Las Terrenas 1st Church of the Nazarene, located in the northeast Nazarene district. Together with local workers and volunteers, the team painted the new downstairs Sunday school classrooms and poured the foundation and laid block for the sanctuary.

In addition to construction work, the team also worked with the children in the community, leading children’s church Sunday morning and another activity during the week in the community surrounding the project site. The team shared Bible stories, games, songs, and crafts with the children.

The last night the team had the opportunity to participate in the first service in the new, completed downstairs classrooms (which will serve as the sanctuary as well until the larger sanctuary is completed). It was a great time of celebration and thanksgiving to God for His provision and blessing.

DR Work & Witness is so thankful for our brothers and sisters from Canton who have given so generously to help support the work that God is doing through the Church of the Nazarene in Las Terrenas. We believe that God will continue to bless this work and that the construction of the church in Las Terrenas will help them to continue to be a great light for Christ in their community.
